For a typical skilled migration application, the end-to-end process looks like this:

1. Skills assessment: 6-16 weeks

Processing times vary by authority. ACS takes 6-8 weeks, Engineers Australia takes 8-12 weeks, and VETASSESS takes 8-12 weeks. Allow extra time for gathering documents.

2. English test: 2-4 weeks

Book your IELTS or PTE test, sit the exam, and wait for results. Results are usually available within 2 weeks.

3. Expression of Interest: variable

After submitting your EOI through SkillSelect, the wait for an invitation depends on your points score and occupation. High-scoring applicants (90+) may be invited within weeks. Lower scores can wait months or may not be invited at all.

4. Visa application: 60 days to prepare

Once invited, you have 60 days to lodge a complete application through ImmiAccount. This includes health checks, police clearances, and all supporting documents.
