Eligibility requirements.
To be eligible for the subclass 189, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Occupation: Your occupation must be on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
- Skills assessment: You must have a positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority for your nominated occupation.
- Age: You must be under 45 years of age at the time of invitation.
- English: You must have at least competent English (IELTS 6.0 in each band or equivalent). Higher scores earn additional points.
- Points: You must score at least 65 points on the points test, though competitive scores are typically 90+.
- Health and character: You must meet health and character requirements, including medical examinations and police clearances from every country you have lived in for 12+ months.
